The design of the project was done in conjunction with our London office. We were responsible for the design of the townhouses and residential cluhouse while the London team worked on the low rise apartment blocks.
As a designer on the project my roles included the design of the townhouses and coordination between the Seattle office team and the London office.
The site contains a mature orchard of apple trees. The design calls for the buildings to be placed around the orchard, using it as a frontage for the real estate.
The master plan of Navoi was designed to maximise the site's capacity to carry real estate. The open space was given a higher importance than the buildings themselves. The apple is a cultural icon for Almaty and will appeal to the project's target audience, who are expected to be proud locals.
